"Statistics show that condoms really have not been very effective. It's been the principal prevention device for the last 20 years, and I think one needs only to look at what's happening with the infection rates in the world to recognize that has not been working." -- U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator Randall Tobias, 4/22/04
The Abstinence Clearinghouse especially welcomes the more than 350 affiliates from Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, West Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
This site provides up-to-date information regarding abstinence education throughout Africa, The Global Aids Initiative, and new developments in the battle against HIV/AIDS. It serves as a clearinghouse for reliable materials regarding abstinence until marriage as the best way to combat the AIDS crisis, and network abstinence educators working in Africa. We invite input on individual programs and local news from visitors to the site including suggestions on material that would be helpful to your programing.
The mission of the Abstinence Clearinghouse is to promote the appreciation for and practice of sexual abstinence (purity) until marriage through the distribution of age appropriate, factual and medically-referenced materials. We are a clearinghouse for abstinence information as well as an Assocation of abstinence advocates. We invite you to join us!
Please consider making a financial gift to AbstinenceAFRICA. All donations made through this site will go directly to services for our African Affiliates.
We hope you find this site useful as we expand the bridge between the Abstinence Clearinghouse and our African friends.
Keep Shining,
